  "notes": [
"The chapter begins with obligations before it discusses exceptions. Food, pilgrimage, and restraint belong to the same moral world: receiving a gift does not erase responsibilities toward others. The detailed rules that follow unfold within this opening commitment to faithfulness.",
"Past hostility does not excuse present injustice. Alongside respect for pilgrimage and sacred times, the verse gives cooperation an ethical test: the purpose of an alliance matters. Shared effort should support care and responsibility rather than wrongdoing or retaliation.",
"Dietary boundaries frame a declaration of completed religion and favor. The closing allowance for someone driven by hunger matters to the reading: necessity is acknowledged within the law. This verse combines worship, gratitude, limits, and attention to human vulnerability.",
"The question about permissible food receives an answer involving good things and trained hunting animals. Human knowledge is itself treated as a gift from God. Naming God connects practical skill and daily provision with remembrance, rather than presenting technique as self-sufficient.",
"Shared food and recognized marriage establish forms of connection across scriptural communities. The marriage language includes financial obligations and contrasts commitment with clandestine relationships. This is a legal passage with interpretive conditions, not a complete ruling for every modern household.",
"Preparation for prayer involves bodily cleanliness, while illness, travel, and lack of water bring accommodation. The verse states that difficulty is not the purpose of these instructions. Detailed ritual applications belong to legal traditions; the passage itself connects purification with gratitude.",
"Remembering divine favor includes remembering an undertaking to listen and obey. The covenant is not merely a past ceremony: it places present conduct under scrutiny. The final reference to inward knowledge joins public promises with the private intentions that sustain them.",
"Fair testimony must survive dislike of the people affected by it. Justice is therefore tested precisely where anger makes partiality attractive. The verse places this discipline close to reverence for God, making impartial conduct an expression of faith rather than an optional courtesy.",
"Belief and good action appear together in a promise of forgiveness and generous reward. After the demanding call to justice, this assurance gives moral effort a hopeful horizon. Human failure is not ignored, but neither is the possibility of mercy diminished.",
"The warning balances the preceding promise by taking denial seriously. Its subject is rejection of divine signs, not an invitation for readers to assign eternal outcomes to neighbors. Read together, the two verses distinguish moral accountability from complacency about belief.",
"The community is asked to remember a danger from which it was protected. The verse does not name the people or occasion, so its lesson need not depend on a reconstructed incident. Gratitude leads toward trust rather than a celebration of revenge.",
"The remembered covenant includes worship, material generosity, support for messengers, and faithfulness. Its twelve leaders locate responsibility within a community rather than leaving it abstract. The passage presents divine assistance alongside obligations, challenging any assumption that election makes conduct irrelevant.",
"Broken commitments and distorted teaching are criticized, while an exception prevents the accusation from becoming absolute. The instruction to pardon is equally part of the verse. Its account of earlier wrongdoing should not be converted into hostility toward every later Jewish person.",
"The passage also addresses failures within Christian covenantal history. Division is linked to neglected obligations, and final disclosure belongs to God. This theological criticism concerns remembered commitments; it does not describe every Christian individual or authorize contempt toward present communities.",
"A messenger brings disclosure while leaving other matters unexposed. The imagery of light and a clear book presents guidance as illumination rather than merely accusation. The invitation addresses readers of earlier scripture within a wider call to recognize and respond to revelation.",
"Guidance is described through movement: from darkness into light and toward a straight path. Peace here accompanies response to divine approval. The image invites reflection on direction and transformation, rather than treating possession of a book as sufficient by itself.",
"The verse states the Quran's distinction between God and the Messiah. Its reasoning emphasizes the dependence of every created being, including Jesus and Mary. This is a theological disagreement with Christian claims, not permission to demean Christians or their devotion.",
"Claims of special closeness do not remove human accountability. The response places all people within creation and under divine judgment. The verse challenges entitlement built on communal identity, asking readers to consider whether belonging has replaced responsibility in their own thinking.",
"The arrival of a messenger ends an imagined excuse that no warning or good news had reached the audience. Revelation is presented as both invitation and responsibility. The unspecified interval between messengers does not supply a precise historical chronology by itself.",
"Moses begins his appeal by reminding his people of favors already received. Prophets and authority are named as gifts rather than grounds for complacency. Gratitude prepares the narrative's central test: whether a community will act faithfully when the next step requires courage.",
"The command concerns the sacred land within Moses' narrative. The verse does not define present borders or settle contemporary political claims. Its immediate dramatic purpose is to contrast an offered future with the fear and refusal that the following verses describe.",
"The people focus on the strength of those occupying the land and make their obedience conditional on danger disappearing. Pickthall's older wording describes formidable inhabitants; the verse is not archaeological evidence for a race of giants. Fear shapes the response to the command.",
"Two unnamed men urge entry and reliance on God. Their minority position contrasts with the larger group's hesitation, showing that collective fear need not silence every alternative. The Quran does not identify them here, and this reading leaves their personal identities open.",
"The reply separates the people from the responsibility placed before them, asking Moses and his Lord to act while they remain seated. Its force lies in that withdrawal. The narrative exposes a desire for promised results without participation in the difficult undertaking.",
"Moses acknowledges that he cannot command the inward response of an entire community. His appeal distinguishes his own responsibility from others' refusal. Prophetic leadership is not depicted as the ability to manufacture obedience, and the narrative leaves judgment with God.",
"The consequence is described as forty years of exclusion and wandering. No route, archaeological site, or ancient calendar date is supplied. The passage closes this episode by showing that refusal has communal consequences extending beyond the moment when the decision was made.",
"The sons of Adam are introduced through an offering and its unequal reception, followed by a threat. The Quran does not name the brothers here. The accepted offering is connected to reverence, shifting attention from possessions offered to the moral character of the giver.",
"The threatened brother refuses to answer murderous intent with the same act. His explanation centers on accountability before God. Within the story, this response exposes the aggressor's responsibility; it should not be used to demand that endangered people remain without protection.",
"The threatened speaker warns that violence carries a burden before God. The scene is a moral confrontation, not a technical formula transferring guilt between people. Its emphasis falls on the seriousness of choosing murder after being reminded of divine accountability.",
"The killing is narrated briefly, without spectacle. The aggressor becomes a loser even after eliminating the person he resented. The verse challenges the apparent success of violence by measuring it against a deeper loss that possession, dominance, or survival cannot repair.",
"A raven becomes the means through which the killer recognizes his failure to care for his brother's body. The humble creature interrupts human arrogance. Remorse enters the story through a practical lesson, without the Quran supplying a location or identifying a particular grave.",
"The principle is introduced as a prescription for the Children of Israel and includes stated legal exceptions. Its comparison magnifies the moral significance of a single human life. It cannot responsibly be reduced either to a slogan without context or to permission for private violence.",
"This severe legal passage concerns violent opposition and corruption in the land. Its penalties belong to a framework of adjudication, evidence, and public authority, not private retaliation. Reading it responsibly requires the following repentance provision and the broader chapter's insistence on justice.",
"Repentance before apprehension is explicitly distinguished within the preceding legal discussion. The verse brings mercy into a passage of severe warning. Questions about remaining claims and victims' rights require legal interpretation; this brief reading does not convert repentance into automatic erasure of every obligation.",
"Reverence, seeking a way toward God, and sustained effort are joined in one appeal. The verse turns from punishment toward purposeful response. Its invitation asks how conduct can move a person closer to divine approval, rather than leaving attention fixed on the failures of others.",
"An imagined ransom larger than all earthly wealth fails before final judgment. The scale of the comparison overturns familiar assumptions about money and influence. What can purchase advantages in society cannot replace faithfulness or remove accountability in the world the verse describes.",
"The desire to escape punishment does not itself end it. The warning presses the reader to respond while moral choice remains possible. The verse describes an unseen outcome in the Quran's theological language; it is not a license for human cruelty.",
"The verse states a prescribed penalty for theft within a legal order. It is not an instruction to individuals to punish suspected offenders. Evidence, qualifying conditions, and judicial responsibility are matters of jurisprudence, while the next verse explicitly returns attention to repentance and reform.",
"Turning back is paired with putting conduct right. Mercy therefore appears alongside an active change in direction, not merely regret over consequences. The connection between this verse and the preceding penalty is interpreted within legal traditions; its promise of divine forgiveness remains explicit.",
"The chapter pauses to place judgment and forgiveness within God's sovereignty. Human legal discussion does not exhaust the meaning of divine justice. The closing question invites recognition of dependence, reminding readers that neither punishment nor pardon belongs to unrestricted human whim.",
"The messenger is consoled about people whose declarations conceal rejection and whose handling of testimony serves a desired result. The criticism concerns particular conduct, not an inherited character of a whole community. The verse distinguishes persuasive speech from an honestly receptive heart.",
"Even when the surrounding conduct is corrupt, a judgment must remain fair. The permission to decline jurisdiction does not become permission to distort a case once accepted. Equity is the stated standard, making the character of litigants no excuse for judicial partiality.",
"The question exposes inconsistency in seeking another tribunal while disregarding a judgment already recognized in one's own scripture. The issue is not curiosity about another tradition. It is the attempt to make religious authority serve a preferred outcome instead of accepting responsibility.",
"The Torah is described as guidance and light entrusted to prophets and learned custodians. Fear and material gain must not corrupt that trust. The concluding judgment has a substantial interpretive history; readers should not turn it into a private power to declare others unbelievers.",
"The passage recalls proportionate legal redress within the Torah and explicitly praises relinquishing a claim. Both parts matter: limits constrain retaliation, while mercy remains possible. This is a discussion of adjudicated rights, not an instruction for individuals to inflict equivalent injuries themselves.",
"Jesus appears within a continuing history of revelation, confirming the Torah and receiving the Gospel. The repeated language of guidance and light gives earlier scripture an honored place in the chapter's argument. Reverence is linked with receiving admonition and acting upon it.",
"Those addressed as people of the Gospel are called to answer to what God revealed in it. The emphasis is on fidelity rather than religious labeling alone. The verse continues the chapter's concern that acknowledged scripture should shape judgment and conduct.",
"Differences in religious law are set within divine testing, while final resolution of disagreements belongs to God. The immediate practical direction is constructive: pursue good actions. This verse joins conviction about revelation with humility about the final judgment of disputed matters.",
"The messenger is instructed not to let litigants' preferences displace revealed judgment. Pressure can work through selective acceptance as well as open rejection. The verse asks readers to notice how a desired result may tempt a person to abandon the inconvenient part of a principle.",
"The question contrasts revealed justice with an order shaped by ignorance. In context, it challenges the pursuit of convenient verdicts. It should not become a shortcut for labeling unfamiliar people or societies; the searching question concerns what actually governs one's judgment.",
"Pickthall's word friends translates awliya, a term involving allegiance and protection. The following verses discuss insecurity and mockery, so ordinary kindness cannot be dismissed from this line alone. Interpretive scope is debated; the chapter also requires justice and recognizes shared food and marriage.",
"A claim of practical necessity conceals a divided allegiance. The speakers fear political reversal and seek protection accordingly. The verse examines how anxiety about status can shape loyalty, while the outcome it anticipates exposes motives that remained hidden behind public explanations.",
"Strong declarations are contrasted with the failure of the commitment they claimed to express. The verse presents a moment of recognition when outward assurances no longer persuade. Its moral focus is the gap between sworn belonging and conduct that makes the promise empty.",
"The possibility of replacement challenges any community's sense of indispensability. The qualities praised include reciprocal love, humility among believers, perseverance, and freedom from paralyzing public blame. Firmness in this historical setting should not be converted into permission to mistreat peaceful people.",
"Protection and allegiance are described through a community marked by prayer and material responsibility. The verse ties belonging to recognizable practices rather than ancestry alone. Interpretive traditions discuss its particular application, while its stated qualities keep worship and care for others closely connected.",
"The assurance of victory is attached to allegiance to God, the messenger, and believers. In the surrounding passage, loyalty is being tested by fear and opportunism. The verse offers confidence without making every worldly success proof of righteousness or every setback proof of rejection.",
"This verse explicitly identifies people who treat religion as entertainment or ridicule. The concern is the choice of guardians and allies within that setting. It should be read alongside the chapter's demands for fairness, rather than used to justify hostility toward all religious difference.",
"The summons to prayer becomes an occasion for mockery among those described. Their response fails to recognize what the practice means to worshippers. The verse invites seriousness about another person's sacred commitments even where disagreement remains, without requiring the reader to answer ridicule with abuse.",
"The question identifies belief in God and successive revelation as the issue under dispute. It exposes an opposition that cannot be explained simply by a lack of religious continuity. The verse speaks within an argument with interlocutors, not a portrait of every scriptural community member.",
"The verse invokes severe accounts of divine punishment in its polemical exchange. It does not give permission to call living Jewish or Christian people animals. Its references belong to particular scriptural judgments, and should never become a vocabulary for dehumanizing present communities.",
"A declaration of belief may conceal an unchanged inward position. The verse locates final knowledge of that concealment with God. Readers can reflect on the possibility of performing agreement without becoming receptive, while avoiding the assumption that they can read other people's hearts.",
"Competition, usually associated with achievement, is turned toward transgression and unlawful gain. That reversal makes the criticism especially sharp. The verse asks what a community rewards and imitates, since harmful conduct becomes harder to resist when people treat it as a measure of success.",
"Religious learning brings a responsibility to challenge corrupt speech and unlawful enrichment. Silence is not presented as neutral when it enables abuse. The verse directs attention to leaders' actions and omissions, rather than allowing authority or scholarship to function as automatic proof of integrity.",
"The allegation of divine stinginess is answered with language of abundant generosity. References to hands belong to the verse's theological expression and are not illustrated as a divine body. Its criticism addresses the hostile speech and conduct described, not every later Jewish person.",
"After sharp criticism, the passage again opens toward forgiveness and the garden. The invitation matters to its overall movement: rebuke has not closed the possibility of response. Belief and reverence are presented as a changed relationship with God, not as inherited entitlement.",
"The verse explicitly recognizes a moderate group among the people being addressed. That distinction prevents a responsible reading from flattening the whole community into one accusation. Faithfulness to revelation is connected with provision, while actual conduct remains the measure under discussion.",
"The messenger's task is to communicate what has been revealed, despite the pressures surrounding that responsibility. Protection is promised alongside the command. The verse emphasizes trustworthiness in transmission; it does not require the reader to invent an unmentioned occasion to grasp its central demand.",
"Possessing a scriptural identity is contrasted with actually upholding revealed guidance. The messenger is also told not to be overcome by rejection. The verse therefore joins a challenge to the audience with reassurance to the one responsible for communicating the message.",
"Several communities are named before the verse turns to belief in God, the Last Day, and good conduct. Interpretations of its relationship to other salvation passages differ. Its wording nevertheless directs attention beyond labels toward faith and the actions through which responsibility is expressed.",
"The covenant is tested when a messenger brings something contrary to established desires. The passage recalls rejection and killing among earlier responses. This is a warning about resisting correction, not inherited guilt assigned to later generations or an accusation against every member of a community.",
"The movement between disregard, mercy, and renewed refusal shows that a favorable past turn does not guarantee future faithfulness. The verse qualifies its criticism with many rather than all. Its imagery concerns moral inattentiveness, not the worth or character of people with sensory disabilities.",
"The Quran presents Jesus as directing worship toward God, whom he identifies as his Lord and his people's Lord. The verse states an Islamic theological position and its consequences. Respectful reading can acknowledge this disagreement without misrepresenting the beliefs or dignity of Christian neighbors.",
"The verse rejects a formula it associates with dividing divine unity. Its central affirmation is uncompromising monotheism. Christian accounts of the Trinity should be understood in their own terms when compared with this passage, rather than replaced by a claim that Christians worship three gods.",
"The challenge immediately becomes a question about repentance and forgiveness. Mercy is not an afterthought detached from the preceding theological disagreement. The verse directs attention toward a possible response, showing that correction can aim at return rather than merely at winning an argument.",
"Jesus is honored as a messenger and Mary as truthful, while their need for food emphasizes creaturely dependence. The reasoning belongs to the Quran's account of their status. Their reverence in the text does not depend on portraying them as divine or self-sufficient.",
"The question contrasts powerless objects of worship with the God who hears and knows. It continues the argument about dependence rather than introducing a new narrative. Readers are invited to consider whether what receives their ultimate devotion can truly bear that trust.",
"The warning concerns exceeding truth in religious devotion and following inherited error. Reverence itself can become distorted when desire displaces understanding. The verse encourages scrutiny of what is being affirmed, while comparison with another tradition should avoid attributing beliefs it does not hold.",
"David and Jesus are cited in a condemnation of particular transgressors among the Children of Israel. The reason given is conduct, not ancestry. This distinction is essential: the verse cannot responsibly become a claim that all later Jewish people share a curse.",
"The failure to restrain one another allows harmful conduct to settle into communal habit. Accountability therefore includes the social response to wrongdoing, not just the initial act. The verse invites reflection on constructive correction, without turning moral concern into harassment or private punishment.",
"The passage criticizes alignments connected with rejection and divine displeasure. In this sequence, loyalty is evaluated through moral and religious commitments. It is not a complete guide to every modern friendship or political relationship, and must remain connected with the chapter's insistence on equitable conduct.",
"The verse connects professed belief with the alliances being criticized in the preceding discussion. Its concern is inconsistency between commitment and conduct. The qualifying reference to many again resists a total judgment about every person belonging to a named religious community.",
"The verse contrasts responses encountered by the believers and praises humility among certain Christians. Its explanation matters more than a permanent ranking of peoples: receptive priests and monks are noticed. The historical contrast should not become an essential claim about every Jew, Christian, or polytheist.",
"Listening produces an emotional response because the hearers recognize truth in the revelation. Tears are joined to a request to be counted as witnesses. The scene presents understanding and feeling together, without making a visible emotional display the required measure of sincere faith.",
"The speakers ask why they should withhold belief when truth has reached them. Their hope is to join righteous people, not merely to acquire a new designation. The verse portrays faith as a response that opens toward companionship and a transformed future.",
"The garden is promised in response to the commitment voiced by these receptive listeners. Speech matters here because it expresses recognition and trust. The verse's generosity should not be detached from the chapter's repeated connection between truthful profession and good conduct.",
"Denial provides the contrast to the preceding welcome and reward. The brief warning closes a sequence about different responses to revelation. Final judgment belongs to God; the reader is invited to consider the seriousness of response rather than pronounce another person's unseen destination.",
"Religious seriousness is distinguished from inventing prohibitions against what God permits. Restraint has limits in both directions: indulgence can transgress, but so can unnecessary self-denial. The verse encourages disciplined gratitude rather than a competition to make ordinary life as burdensome as possible.",
"Lawfulness and goodness accompany the permission to eat. Material enjoyment is therefore not treated as inherently opposed to faith. The verse joins receiving sustenance with reverence, inviting attention to the source and manner of provision as well as the pleasure it brings.",
"Unintended speech is distinguished from deliberate oaths, and broken commitments require specified repair. Feeding, clothing, emancipation, and fasting appear within the historical legal framework. The emphasis on ordinary household standards gives material care a concrete place in restoring responsibility for one's words.",
"Intoxicants, gambling, idols, and divining arrows are grouped as practices to avoid. The verse makes a clear religious demand; the following line explains harms involving relationships and remembrance. Its purpose is not served by humiliating people who are seeking recovery from addiction.",
"Hostility and the neglect of remembrance explain the danger of the practices just named. The rhetorical question calls for a decisive response. The passage asks readers to notice not only immediate pleasure or gain, but also the relationships and attention that harmful habits consume.",
"Obedience is urged, but the messenger's duty is defined as clear communication. This distinction separates conveying guidance from controlling every response. The verse keeps responsibility with the hearer while limiting the messenger's task, a pattern repeated elsewhere in the chapter.",
"The verse addresses what had already been consumed and turns attention toward continuing faith, reverence, and good action. Its repeated language emphasizes a sustained pattern rather than a single declaration. The new instruction is not presented as a reason to despair over the past.",
"Game that can easily be caught becomes a test of restraint during pilgrimage. Accessibility is not the same as permission. The reference to reverence in private asks whether a limit still matters when an opportunity is convenient and no human observer is present.",
"Deliberate violation of the pilgrimage hunting restriction brings a prescribed compensation assessed by just people. The alternatives include provision for the needy and fasting. This is a specialized ritual law, whose practical application requires its full legal context rather than an improvised individual calculation.",
"The permission concerning marine food is set beside a temporary restriction on land hunting during pilgrimage. The distinction shows that the rules are particular rather than a blanket rejection of using natural resources. Provision, travel, sacred observance, and final accountability are held together.",
"The Ka'bah, sacred time, and marked offerings serve as shared institutions within the community's life. Their significance extends beyond isolated private devotion. The verse links visible practices with recognition of divine knowledge, inviting reflection on how common observances support order and responsibility.",
"Severity and forgiveness appear within the same short reminder. Neither should be removed to simplify the chapter's picture of accountability. The balance asks readers to take wrongdoing seriously while preserving a real possibility of mercy, rather than assuming either automatic safety or inevitable rejection.",
"The messenger conveys the message, while God knows both outward declarations and concealed intentions. This allocation of knowledge matters: communication is a human responsibility, but complete knowledge of hearts is not. The verse discourages confusing persuasive appearances with final spiritual truth.",
"Abundance can make something harmful attractive without changing its moral character. The verse calls on understanding to resist that confusion. Its question applies beyond possessions: popularity, repeated claims, and widespread habits also require judgment rather than automatic acceptance because many people embrace them.",
"The warning concerns questions that seek disclosures bringing unnecessary difficulty during revelation. It does not erase the chapter's many sincere questions about practice. Readers can distinguish inquiry that seeks understanding from insistence driven by provocation, curiosity without responsibility, or a desire to multiply burdens.",
"Earlier people are recalled as seeking disclosures and then rejecting what followed. The problem is a response that fails its own request. The verse asks whether the desire for more information is accompanied by readiness to accept responsibility when an answer becomes clear.",
"Named categories of animals reflect practices the verse rejects as falsely attributed to God. Their historical terminology should not distract from the central criticism: custom can claim divine authority without warrant. Religious familiarity is therefore not sufficient evidence that a restriction belongs to revelation.",
"Ancestral practice is offered as a reason to refuse revealed guidance. The response asks whether inheritance remains persuasive when knowledge and guidance are absent. Respect for predecessors need not prevent examination; the verse challenges unthinking repetition rather than the existence of family memory itself.",
"The command directs believers to attend to their own moral condition. It does not cancel the chapter's calls to justice or responsible correction. The final return to God places both self and others under judgment, limiting the temptation to control everyone else's response.",
"A dying person's bequest is protected through testimony and solemn accountability, including circumstances of travel. The verse anticipates conflicts of interest, kinship pressure, and concealed evidence. Its detailed procedure shows that trust can require safeguards when the person most affected can no longer speak.",
"The procedure allows a suspected wrong in testimony to be addressed by further oaths from those concerned. Accountability is not exhausted by an initial declaration. This legal setting illustrates the importance of correction and evidence, while practical inheritance disputes require qualified, case-specific adjudication.",
"The stated purpose of the procedure is more reliable testimony and awareness that an oath can be challenged. Reverence supports the legal safeguard rather than replacing it. The verse joins listening, conscience, and public accountability in the protection of another person's rights.",
"The final scene gathers the messengers and asks about the response they received. Their answer acknowledges the limits of creaturely knowledge before the One who knows what is hidden. The scene is theological narration, not an invitation to draw or reconstruct the unseen assembly.",
"Jesus is reminded of gifts involving revelation, healing, and other signs, repeatedly described as occurring by God's permission. That refrain is central to the passage's theology. The Quran honors the messenger while locating the source of power beyond him, with Mary included in remembered favor.",
"The disciples answer an invitation to believe in God and the messenger with a declaration of submission. The emphasis is on response rather than individual biographies. This verse does not supply their names or later lives, so readers should not assume those details are present.",
"The disciples ask Jesus about a heavenly table, and he answers by recalling their responsibility before God. Their motives are clarified in the next verse. The episode gives the chapter its familiar title, but supplies no precise location for the requested sign.",
"The disciples explain that they seek nourishment, settled hearts, confirmation, and the ability to testify. Their request therefore has several dimensions. The narrative invites reflection on the relationship between evidence and trust, without making extraordinary signs a condition that every believer may demand.",
"Jesus' prayer joins sustenance with celebration and a sign for the community. The final appeal recognizes God as the giver of provision. The imagined table illustration is only an aid to reading; it cannot establish the food, setting, or appearance of the event.",
"The promised response comes with an intensified warning against subsequent denial. Greater evidence is accompanied by greater accountability within the narrative. The passage does not describe the table's materials or menu, and later elaborations should remain distinct from what these verses actually state.",
"The Quran depicts Jesus denying that he instructed people to worship him and Mary alongside God. This scene rejects misdirected worship; it is not an accurate summary of the mainstream Christian definition of the Trinity. The response emphasizes God's complete knowledge of Jesus' own testimony.",
"Jesus identifies his message as worship of God and distinguishes his presence among his people from God's continuing watchfulness. The passage keeps prophetic testimony within human limits. Its wording about being taken is interpreted within wider Muslim discussion of Jesus' departure and return.",
"Jesus leaves the people's fate to divine authority, acknowledging both judgment and forgiveness. The verse does not portray him as possessing independent control over salvation. Its appeal brings humility into a scene of profound theological disagreement, with wisdom belonging finally to God.",
"The final reward is described as security, gardens, and mutual pleasure between God and the truthful. Truthfulness is not merely successful argument here; it is a quality beneficial when appearances no longer conceal reality. The verse gives the chapter's demanding obligations a hopeful horizon.",
"The closing declaration returns everything in heaven and earth to God's sovereignty and power. Food, covenants, judgment, and prophetic testimony have all unfolded within that larger relation. The ending gathers the chapter's many practical details into a final acknowledgment of dependence."
