"overview": "Sad contrasts proud refusal with servants who repeatedly turn to Allah. David's judgment, Solomon's gifts and Job's endurance lead into scenes of final welcome and consequence. The account of Adam and Iblis exposes superiority rooted in pride, while the closing verses return to a reminder offered without fee or pretension.",

  "notes": [
"The opening letter gives the Surah its name, followed by an oath invoking the Quran's reminder. Its recited sound is preserved without a speculative hidden meaning. The opening directs attention toward what the message recalls and what its listeners resist.",
"The obstacle is described as pride and division. The verse turns from the authority of the reminder to the attitude meeting it. A person can hear words clearly while remaining unwilling to consider them because of rivalry, status or self-importance.",
"Earlier generations cried out only when escape was no longer possible. The warning makes the timing of response important. A reader still able to listen and change occupies a different moment, where recognition can become action rather than helpless regret.",
"A messenger from within the community is treated as astonishing and dismissed through accusations. Familiarity becomes a reason for rejection instead of understanding. The verse exposes how labels can protect an audience from engaging with evidence that arrives through an unexpected person.",
"The demand to recognize one God challenges the opponents' inherited religious arrangement. Their astonishment is reported rather than endorsed. The verse invites readers to distinguish the shock of unfamiliar teaching from a reasoned judgment about whether that teaching is true.",
"Community leaders urge persistence in their gods and interpret the message as a scheme. Their influence shapes what others are willing to hear. The scene asks whether leadership encourages honest consideration or organizes resistance before the question can be examined.",
"The opponents appeal to what they have previously heard and call the message invented. The narrative highlights an argument from familiarity. Tradition can be valuable, but its mere familiarity does not by itself settle every claim about truth or revelation.",
"The objection turns toward why this person should receive the reminder. Status and comparison intrude upon the question of truth. The verse exposes envy as a possible source of doubt, asking whether resentment about the messenger has replaced examination of the message.",
"The treasures of divine mercy do not belong to the critics. Their preferences cannot determine whom the Bestower chooses. The question loosens the connection people often assume between social rank and entitlement to receive or distribute spiritual gifts.",
"The challengers are asked whether they own the heavens and earth or can ascend by their own means. The image exposes the scale of their presumption. Human authority over a small sphere does not confer control over revelation or divine choice.",
"The apparently formidable opposition is pictured as a defeated faction. The verse places present intimidation within a larger judgment of power. It encourages perspective without identifying a modern political group or allowing the reader to predict an unsupported military timetable.",
"Noah's people, Ad and Pharaoh introduce earlier examples of denial. The list connects the current dispute to a recurring human response. The Quran names figures and peoples for reflection, without providing a full chronology or a dynastic identification of Pharaoh.",
"Thamud, Lot's people and the dwellers of the wood extend the remembered pattern. Their grouping concerns resistance to messengers, not a claim that every individual shared one response. No precise map coordinates or modern community labels are supplied here.",
"The shared element among the earlier groups is denial of messengers, followed by consequence. The verse gathers a varied history into one warning. Its purpose is ethical remembrance rather than providing the detailed archaeological record of each named people.",
"A single overwhelming cry is enough to end the imagined security of those warned. The language gives no room for confidence in a repeated chance afterward. Its urgency calls for attention now, without revealing a calendar date for the event.",
"The opponents mockingly ask for their share before the reckoning. Their words turn a serious warning into a challenge for entertainment. The verse invites a listener to consider how ridicule can hide fear or prevent an honest encounter with accountability.",
"Muhammad is told to endure and remember David, a servant characterized by strength and repeated return to Allah. The model joins power with repentance. Patience is sustained through remembering a life of devotion, not through pretending that opposition causes no pain.",
"The mountains join David's praise at evening and sunrise in the Quranic account. Creation and devotion are presented in harmony. This reader treats the scene as sacred narrative, without inventing a particular mountain or depicting the prophet within an imagined reconstruction.",
"Birds are gathered in the same movement of return and praise. The brief image widens the setting beyond human speech. It invites wonder at creation's relation to its Lord while leaving the unseen manner of that shared devotion undescribed.",
"David receives a strengthened kingdom, wisdom and decisive speech. Authority is thus joined to discernment and the ability to make matters clear. The following dispute will show why power needs these qualities, especially when people depend on a ruler's judgment.",
"The litigants enter by climbing into David's chamber. Their unexpected arrival begins a test within his position of authority. Ibn Kathir cautions against unsupported elaborations of this story, so the reader remains with the details actually supplied by the Quran.",
"David's fear is acknowledged, and the visitors ask for fair judgment between them. Their appeal centers on truth and avoiding injustice. The scene recognizes a human reaction while turning the ruler toward the responsibility that the dispute places before him.",
"One speaker describes ninety-nine ewes against his single ewe, together with pressure through persuasive speech. The imbalance makes vulnerability visible. The verse lets the reader consider how a forceful voice and greater resources can combine to overwhelm someone with less.",
"David condemns the demand, recognizes a test and turns in repentance. The Quran foregrounds injustice, awareness and return. Ibn Kathir warns that popular additions to this account lack a reliable prophetic report; this edition does not repeat them as biography.",
"Forgiveness is granted, and closeness and a good return are affirmed. The story does not leave David defined by the moment of testing. Its movement shows repentance leading into mercy, an important balance beside the Surah's warnings about persistent pride.",
"David's authority is explicitly tied to truthful judgment and resistance to desire. Forgetting the reckoning can corrupt the exercise of power. The instruction makes leadership a trust with moral limits, rather than a privilege that shields its holder from accountability.",
"Creation is not purposeless. The statement moves from a ruler's judgment to the wider setting in which justice matters. If the world has meaning, human conduct cannot be reduced entirely to advantage, accident or the wishes of those holding power.",
"Faithful good action and destructive corruption are not morally interchangeable. The questions challenge the idea that all lives end without a meaningful distinction of conduct. The verse supports the seriousness of justice rather than a reader's claim to judge every person's final state.",
"The Book is given for pondering its signs and for thoughtful remembrance. Reflection is part of the intended response, not an optional ornament beside recitation. The verse invites sustained attention that connects words with conscience, understanding and the life being lived.",
"Solomon is introduced as a gift to David and an excellent servant who repeatedly returns to Allah. The emphasis lies on devotion before the account of royal resources. The father and son are connected without an invented reign date or portrait.",
"Fine horses are displayed to Solomon in the afternoon. The Quran's brief scene introduces an encounter between attractive possessions and remembrance. The edition preserves that setting without inventing a stable's location, the horses' number or a documented royal breed.",
"Pickthall follows a reading in which absorption in the horses distracts from remembrance. Commentators discuss the scene's wording and details differently. The note distinguishes the translator's interpretation from an independently verified historical account of exactly what happened that afternoon.",
"The Arabic action toward the horses has been understood as stroking or striking; Ibn Kathir records both views. Pickthall chooses striking in this translation. The illustration therefore avoids presenting a violent reconstruction as a settled detail shared by all commentators.",
"Solomon is tested through a body placed on his throne, and he turns back to Allah. The verse is concise and does not explain the body's identity. This edition leaves that detail open instead of asserting later stories about rings or impostors.",
"Solomon asks first for forgiveness and then for an exceptional kingdom, calling Allah the Bestower. The order keeps dependence visible even in an extraordinary request. His power is received as a gift, not claimed as an achievement independent of its source.",
"The wind is made subject to Solomon's command in the Quranic account. This is presented as a special grant rather than an ordinary technology. The reader should not mistake an imaginative landscape for proof of a reconstructed vehicle, route or mechanism.",
"Builders and divers among the beings made subject to Solomon extend the account of his unusual authority. The verse gives roles rather than a catalogue of surviving works. It does not identify a particular ruin or treasure as an authenticated product of them.",
"Others are described as bound in chains, indicating limits imposed within that granted authority. The verse does not supply their individual stories. Its place in the passage emphasizes the breadth of Solomon's gift without inviting invented biographies or portraits of unseen beings.",
"The gift comes with freedom to grant or withhold within Solomon's commission. The statement is part of this particular prophetic account. It should not be generalized into a claim that every ruler possesses unlimited authority or stands beyond moral responsibility.",
"Closeness to Allah and a good return close Solomon's story, echoing the end of David's. The emphasis returns from extraordinary powers to the servant's relationship with the Giver. Worldly command is not the final measure by which the account honors him.",
"Job is remembered through a cry to his Lord amid distress. The Quran allows suffering and faithful dependence to appear together. The verse does not invite readers to diagnose another sufferer's hidden guilt or assign every illness to a visible supernatural cause.",
"The command directs Job toward cool water for washing and drinking. Relief enters the account in a simple, concrete image. The Quran supplies no geographic location, so an illustrated spring must remain symbolic rather than a verified pilgrimage or healing site.",
"Job's household is restored and increased as mercy and a reminder. The verse centers renewed relationship rather than only physical recovery. It gives no full sequence of family events, and this edition does not settle details that the brief account leaves unstated.",
"Job is given a way to keep an oath with a bundle, and is praised for patience and return. Later explanations supply a family background, but the verse does not state it fully. Its central emphasis remains steadfastness and merciful resolution.",
"Abraham, Isaac and Jacob are remembered for strength and insight. The pairing suggests that faithful service requires both action and discernment. Their names extend the company of remembered servants without turning this brief praise into a complete genealogical or chronological record.",
"Their distinctive focus is remembrance of the final home. The verse connects purity of purpose with the horizon they kept before them. Attention to the Hereafter is presented as something that shapes present priorities, rather than simply an event acknowledged in the distance.",
"They are honored as chosen and excellent in Allah's sight. The judgment belongs to the One who knows their lives completely. The reader encounters praise meant to encourage remembrance and imitation of good qualities, not grounds for inventing unsupported personal details.",
"Ishmael, Elisha and Dhu'l-Kifl join the remembered company of the excellent. Their names are given without expanded stories here. In particular, this passage does not settle disputed identifications of Dhu'l-Kifl or provide a confirmed location for any prophet's grave.",
"The preceding accounts are called a reminder, and attention turns toward the good return of the mindful. Narrative gives way to promised outcome. The transition asks what the reader carries from the stories into their own understanding of devotion and responsibility.",
"Open gates welcome the mindful into gardens of lasting residence. The image contrasts with barriers and exclusion, presenting reward through hospitality. The garden belongs to the Hereafter, so any accompanying visual is a symbolic evocation rather than a literal earthly destination.",
"Rest, plentiful fruit and drink portray freedom from the strain of unmet need. These familiar comforts communicate welcome through ordinary human experience. The verse's promise exceeds the limitations of an illustration, which cannot claim to show the unseen reality itself.",
"Companionship marked by modest gaze and shared age belongs to the garden's description. The verse adds relationship to its picture of rest and provision. The reader should receive the promise respectfully without turning its few words into invented individual portraits or biographies.",
"The promised scene is connected directly to the Day of Reckoning. Reward and accountability are therefore part of the same horizon. The verse invites present conduct to be shaped by that promise rather than treating the garden as an isolated fantasy.",
"The provision does not run out. This final assurance distinguishes the promised welcome from earthly gifts, which fade, require effort or remain insecure. The image of sufficiency completes the account of reward while directing gratitude toward the One who grants it.",
"The transition introduces a contrasting return for transgressors. The distinction concerns the moral direction of a life, not worldly rank or ancestry. The Surah places promised welcome beside warning so that hope and responsibility remain audible together.",
"Hell is named as a terrible resting place, reversing the preceding scene of ease. The stark contrast is intended to disturb complacency about transgression. It belongs to divine judgment in the passage, not to a human program of punishment.",
"Pickthall renders the paired draught through opposed extremes of heat and cold. The image is a warning of torment rather than an earthly drink to identify. Its severity should turn attention toward accountability, not fascination with depicting another person's suffering.",
"Further forms of suffering extend the warning beyond one image. The verse does not provide a catalogue for detailed reconstruction. Its role is to underscore the seriousness of the outcome while the listener still has time to pursue a different course.",
"New arrivals receive hostility instead of welcome. The scene exposes the collapse of fellowship built around wrongdoing: sharing a destination does not produce solidarity. It contrasts sharply with the open gates and restful company promised to the mindful.",
"The arriving followers answer by blaming those who prepared the way through misleading them. Responsibility becomes an argument that neither side can escape. The scene asks readers to consider both the influence they exercise and the guidance they choose to accept.",
"The followers request doubled punishment for their misleaders. Their anger cannot restore the opportunity already lost. The verse underlines the gravity of leading others astray while preserving the fact that a follower's resentment is not itself a path to safety.",
"The condemned wonder why people they once considered wicked are absent. Their former judgments are exposed as unreliable. The verse challenges social contempt and confident rankings of others, especially when those judgments rest on status, mockery or group loyalty.",
"The question admits that ridicule may have been mistaken, or that their own sight has failed. It is a reversal of the confidence with which they once dismissed others. The warning encourages humility before contempt hardens into a habitual response.",
"The quarrelling is affirmed as part of the truthful warning. What looked like alliance in worldly life has ended in mutual accusation. The scene asks whether a relationship is built on justice and sincere care or only on shared opposition.",
"Muhammad identifies his role as a warner and returns to the declaration of one God. After the complex scenes, the message's center is restated simply. The messenger does not claim independent sovereignty over the destinies he is commanded to describe.",
"The Lord of heaven, earth and everything between is Mighty and Forgiving. The second attribute keeps mercy present after the severe warnings. The verse prevents the reader from forgetting the possibility of return while considering the reach of divine authority.",
"The message is announced as momentous news. Its importance is not measured by the audience's immediate enthusiasm. The short declaration asks for a change in attention: what has been treated as familiar argument may concern the deepest direction of human life.",
"Turning away is set beside the magnitude of the news. The verse is brief enough to make the contrast direct. It invites a reader to notice whether distraction or resistance is determining attention more strongly than the significance of what is heard.",
"The messenger disclaims prior knowledge of the heavenly assembly's discussion. This limits his claim to what is revealed, rather than an independent mastery of the unseen. The account that follows is therefore presented as received knowledge, not personal observation or speculation.",
"Revelation enables a clear warning. The verse defines the purpose of the disclosed account instead of inviting unlimited claims about hidden matters. A careful reader can respect that boundary by distinguishing the Quran's wording from imaginative details added for storytelling.",
"The creation of a human from clay is announced to the angels. The account moves to a beginning beyond the human historical record. No calendar date, excavated location or physical portrait of the Creator is supplied or inferred here.",
"Fashioning and the gift of spirit precede the command to prostrate. The verse presents human life as an honored divine creation. Its sacred language should not be converted into an image of Allah or a claim that divinity becomes physically divided.",
"The angels' complete obedience is emphasized. Their response prepares the contrast with Iblis in the next verse. The account focuses on the response to divine command, leaving no need for the reader to invent individual angelic expressions, appearances or conversations.",
"Iblis refuses through pride, unlike the obedient angels described immediately before him. The narrative makes arrogance a decisive moral turn. The danger is not lack of awareness alone, but the refusal to act rightly when obedience conflicts with self-importance.",
"The question exposes pride behind the refusal and honors the created human through the Quran's sacred language. This edition does not visualize divine hands or assign a bodily likeness to Allah. The passage's concern is Iblis's response to the command.",
"Iblis claims superiority from fire over clay. His comparison substitutes a judgment about origin for obedience and moral worth. The verse offers a powerful warning against treating the material, ancestry or category from which someone comes as justification for contempt.",
"Expulsion follows the arrogant refusal. The statement marks a consequence rather than a successful assertion of independence. The account challenges the assumption that defiance automatically proves strength, especially when it rests on refusing to recognize another creature's granted dignity.",
"The curse continues to the Day of Judgment, extending the consequence beyond the immediate exchange. No human date is supplied for that endpoint. The verse keeps the account within divine judgment rather than inviting a speculative timeline of unseen events.",
"Iblis asks for delay until resurrection. He requests time without expressing repentance or withdrawing the claim of superiority. The distinction matters: prolonging an opportunity does not itself produce change when the will remains committed to the same destructive purpose.",
"A reprieve is granted within the account. The answer should be read with the next verse, which specifies an appointed limit. Permission to continue for a time does not mean approval of the purpose for which that time is sought.",
"The delay ends at an appointed time known within the divine command. The narrative supplies a limit but no calendar accessible to the reader. This boundary prevents an unseen account from becoming a basis for predicting dates or manufacturing esoteric schedules.",
"Iblis vows to mislead, invoking the very might he has refused to obey. The contradiction exposes knowledge without submission. The verse makes deception an intentional project, inviting vigilance about the appeals that draw a person away from what they recognize as right.",
"The sincere servants are excepted from his claim. The verse places hope within the account of temptation, refusing to present deception as irresistible. Sincere devotion matters, while the text does not authorize anyone to claim perfect immunity from self-examination.",
"Truth is announced as the basis of the divine response. After the false comparison and threat to mislead, the account returns to a reliable word. The verse connects the judgment that follows with truthfulness rather than arbitrary rivalry.",
"Iblis and those who follow him face a shared consequence. The warning concerns chosen allegiance and conduct, not an inherited human identity. It asks the reader to examine the direction of following while the opportunity for sincerity and repentance remains.",
"The messenger asks no fee and disclaims pretension. The closing statement returns the audience from the unseen narrative to the integrity of its human bearer. His task is to convey the reminder entrusted to him, not manufacture authority for personal gain.",
"The Quran is a reminder addressed to all peoples. The scope extends beyond the immediate opponents and their local dispute. The verse invites every reader to consider its summons, rather than treating the preceding stories as material relevant only to distant others.",
"Recognition of the message's truth will come in time. The closing does not disclose a date or promise that every question is settled immediately. It asks for patient seriousness in the present, while the full outcome remains beyond the listener's control."

Where the Corpus repeats a phrase across adjacent Arabic words, it is divided into individual word meanings for hover and audio; these editorial splits are recorded in the source audit.
